What Do Advanced Skincare Services Entail?

wstadmin • March 25, 2022

Have you wrestled with how to properly care for your skin type? Do you guess or second-guess yourself when deciding which skincare products to buy? Maybe you have cycled through the latest skincare fads and brands, but you are still frustrated with the results.

Enter advanced skincare services! And “advanced” they are when it comes to achieving results you have only dreamed of. Advanced skincare combines dermatology, technology, and an eye for beauty to give you healthy and glowing skin.

SkinLUXE Aesthetics offers advanced skincare ranging from facials to lip augmentation to Botox, but all fall under our broader luxurious, anti-aging skincare services:

  • Neurotoxins
  • Dermal fillers
  • Microneedling
  • Hydrafacials
  • Chemical peels

Before taking a look at what each skincare service entails, what are the benefits of advanced skincare services, especially compared to drug-store and other skincare brands?

Benefits of Advanced Skincare

Services Provided by NPs and RNs

Unlike a beauty consultant or esthetician, our professionals at SkinLUXE are all registered nurses/nurse practitioners specializing in treating the skin who can administer treatments like Botox and true chemical peels, as well as diagnose skincare conditions. With that being said, advanced skincare places your skin in the hands of an expert.

Customized Care for Your True Skin Type

During a consultation or advanced skincare service, your aesthetician will evaluate your skin (and without makeup), making it easier to determine your true skin type and tailor a unique plan in caring for it. Master aestheticians consider your skin’s sensitivity, texture, pigmentation, and any scarring when recommending the right services and products for you.

Higher Concentrations

Because master aestheticians are, in fact, medical professionals, they are able to administer medical-grade skincare with higher concentrations of grade-A ingredients. This means you will benefit from quality ingredients targeting specific skin needs or conditions and that are generally more effective. Prescription retinol is a prime example; an aesthetician can administer a retinol treatment that is strong and via a sophisticated delivery system for deeper penetration into the skin.

Advanced Skincare Services

SkinLUXE offers all of the following advanced skincare services. Contact us today for more information, or book your first appointment!

Neurotoxins

Typical neurotoxin services include treating facial wrinkles, crow’s feet, and deep frowns. You may already be aware of Botox and Dysport, but what you might not know is the benefits of these neuromodulators go beyond smoothing wrinkles! While both are injected into specific muscles to prevent unwanted creases in your skin, they are also used to treat and minimize excessive sweating and can target migraines and temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMJ)!

Dosing injections vary per client and are dependent on your muscle size and strength. Treatments also tend to last 3 to 4 months, depending on your metabolism.

Note: Neurotoxin treatments are not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, and you should tell your aesthetician if you have an autoimmune disease.

Dermal fillers

Dermal fillers are soft and gel-like fillers that are injected beneath the skin to restore lost volume and give a more youthful appearance. At SkinLUXE, we use a broad selection of Hyaluronic Acid (HA) dermal fillers within the Restylane and Juvederm product portfolios. Popular dermal filler treatments include lip, cheek and midface augmentation, tear trough filler, temple filler, chin augmentation, and hand rejuvenation, among others.

Dermal filler results are temporary and typically last 6 to 12 months, or longer, before your body gradually and naturally absorbs the particles. The results of dermal filler also can be reversed.

Note: Tell your injector if you have an autoimmune disease or any neurological disorders, or if you have a history of cold sores. Filler treatments are not recommended within 4 weeks of a dental appointment or during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Microneedling

Also known as collagen-induction therapy, microneedling is a cosmetic procedure that involves repeatedly puncturing the skin with tiny, sterile needles in order to trigger your body’s wound-healing process. The result is a production of strong, healthy collagen for smoother, firmer, more toned skin. Microneedling is also used to treat and improve acne scarring, fine lines and wrinkles, pore size, brown spots and pigment issues, stretch marks and loose skin, and skin texture.

Microneedling results are most noticeable 4 to 6 weeks after treatment, as are multiple treatments over 6 months’ time. Serums can also be added to microneedling treatments for accelerated rejuvenation and results.

Note: When planning a microneedling treatment, know that you will need to avoid direct sunlight, sweating, and bathing after treatment, and not wear makeup for several days.

Hydrafacials

Think cleansing, soothing, and hydrating all wrapped-up in one, and you’ve imagined the hydrafacial ! It is the only hydradermabrasion procedure that has all of these benefits while providing antioxidant protection and resulting in visibly clearer, more beautiful skin. Overall, the treatment is non-invasive and generally non-irritating.

You will likely see results immediately after treatment, and your skin may feel smooth and hydrated for up to 1 to 4 weeks with appropriate home care.

Note: Hydrafacials are not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, and you should tell your aesthetician if you have an autoimmune disease, communicable disease (lupus/hepatitis), or shellfish allergy.

Chemical peels

Chemical peels are just that: a chemical solution applied to your face, neck, or hands that dries and can be peeled off. They can be used for a variety of reasons but are best for treating sun damage and acne, reducing freckles and dark patches, and improving the appearance of fine lines and large pores. Chemical peels also vary in intensity for mild, moderate, or severe skin imperfections.

You should notice improvements in your skin following a chemical peel, but the best skin results are achieved after multiple treatments.

Note: Side effects such as redness, tingling, or slight irritation are common after a chemical peel but are often mild and short-lived.
